Coloration: blue-and-yellow macaws have striking plumage with a blue-green back and wings, bright yellow chest and belly, and a white area around the eyes. Their face is adorned with black lines of fine feathers.

Incubation period: the female incubates the eggs for about 28 days

Lifespan: around 30–50 years in the wild, up to 60–70 years in captivity

Range: Central and South America, from Panama to northern Argentina

Diet: fruits, nuts, seeds, berries, and leaves
